Dominican Republic Jun 19 - 27, 2021, Student/Friendly, w/Nate Benard, SR1533
Urgent Needs: Physicians, PAs, NPs, Dentists, Dental Assistants, Hygienists, Pharmacists, Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Optometrists, Students, Servants (non-medical helpers)
NOTE: GHO has a COVID plan to do our best to keep trip participants and our patients safe and healthy. We are watching closely (see updates below *) as countries begin to open up and trusting the Lord to make our way clear. It is possible this mission will cancel in which case your application and funds will be moved to a future mission of your choice.
*Currently CDC guidelines recommend but do not require a 7-10 day quarantine upon return to the U.S. We recommend you check with your employer or hospital for their requirements before committing to the mission.
We welcome physicians, dentists, pharmacists, dermatologists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, first responders, dental hygienists, dental assistants, physical/occupational therapists, students, servants (non-medical helpers), and a trip photographer/videographer on all of our general medicine and dentistry trips.
We will be working with our in-country partners of the Dominican Republic, Oasis church, who will provide security, transportation, interpreters, and generally see to our needs as a team. Each caregiver will have their own interpreter, as well as those in triage and the pharmacy.
We will be serving the least, the lost, and the last - Haitians who are effectively slaves to the sugar cane corporations in the Dominican Republic. We will be bringing them love and care and the hope of the Gospel. We encourage medical students to join us on this trip. This is a fantastic opportunity to mentor a medical student as well.
Our team will stay at a secure hotel with multiple persons (single-sex) in a room with a bathroom in each room. The food is safe and plentiful. Bottled water is provided to all team members at all times. We value the team bonding time. Saturday will be set aside for a day of sightseeing in the DR before returning home on Sunday.
Please consider joining us to minister to these amazing people and seeing what God is going to do!
