Are you looking for an opportunity to serve on a medical mission trip? Whether this is your first mission trip or you are a returning medical professional, we invite you to be part of this meaningful opportunity in the Dominican Republic.
While the Dominican Republic is the most popular tourist destination in the Caribbean, many communities still face economic hardships and limited access to healthcare. The need is great, and we seek to bring hope through both medical and dental care, and most importantly, through the message of Christ: the Bread of Life and Living Water.
Join us as we partner with Oasis Church in Santo Domingo to serve a community in great need outside the urban center. Global Health Outreach (GHO) has a long-standing relationship with the Oasis Church community, who graciously and abundantly provide for the team’s needs, including setup, translation, delicious meals, and safe transportation.
We will stay in a comfortable hotel in the heart of Santo Domingo and travel by bus daily to the mission site. Our days will begin early with morning praise and worship and conclude with evening “God Sightings” discussions, reflecting on how we see God at work. The outreach runs Monday through Friday, with possible opportunities to serve in the following areas:
- Providing medical and dental care
- Distributing water filters in the community
- Leading a Vacation Bible School (VBS) for children
- Training select individuals in public health
- Teaching first aid to community members
- Conducting home visits to reach those unable to travel to the clinic
On Saturday, we will take time to rest and explore, with opportunities to visit the historic Spanish colonial city of Santo Domingo or relax at the beach. We will depart on Sunday.
We welcome physicians, dermatologists, dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, medical assistants, physical and occupational therapists, optometrists, health profession students, and non-medical volunteers with a heart for service.

Requirements
Prerequisites
- IMPORTANT! The expiration date on your passport MUST be at least 6 months past the return date of your trip. Processing times for new passports and passport renewals is 3 - 4 months so we advise you to start the process immediately after you have been approved for the trip if your passport expiration date does not meet the requirement.
- Foreign language skills are appreciated, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Attending morning and evening team meetings, including devotions
- Serving in the capacity of position on team and/or at direction of the team leader
