VISION

Since 2013, the Serge team in Kibuye has partnered with Hope Africa University and Kibuye Hope Hospital to bring high-quality, compassionate medical care in the name of Jesus to the poor in rural Burundi. The team also provides clinical training to medical professionals, equipping the next generation of Burundian physicians.

MINISTRY OVERVIEW

Burundi is one of the most beautiful, but one of the poorest and hungriest, countries in the world. The Serge Burundi team is engaged in health outreach, medical care, nutrition programs, education, and mobilizing laborers for the harvest. Interns will be able to participate in team community life, develop relationships with Burundian colleagues, and observe a nation filled with paradox.

Part of the internship will also be assisting through teaching and serving the children of a missionary family on the field two days per week. We are looking for individuals who will love our children and enjoy time with both missionary kids and Burundian children.

We look for interns who are flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to be uncomfortable. Interns that thrive in our context have a team mentality, relational focus, heart to share Jesus in word and deed, sense of humor, adventurous spirit.

EXPERIENCE:

Relational ministry through interaction with Burundians and team members
Fellowship with Jesus as you serve Him among the poor
Shared cooking responsibilities

A chance to study either French or Kirundi

Sharing the love of Jesus in story and action
Praying with the team, the sick, and the struggling
Discipling youth

Serve in one or more of the following areas:

Medicine/healthcare professions by shadowing a missionary physician or engaging in research work at the hospital
Youth discipleship, sports outreach, and Bible clubs with community children
Serving long-term missionary families with childcare and teen activities
