Thailand, Oct. 4-14, 2024, Human Trafficking Care, w/Dr. Trish Burgess, SR1664
We welcome physicians, dentists, pharmacists, obstetrics and gynecologist, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, women’s health, nurses, dental hygienists, physical/occupational therapists, servants (non-medical helpers), on this Human Trafficking Care mission.
This mission will be serving in the heart of Nana red-light district area in central Bangkok. Our national team has a ministry center there with a focus on the women in prostitution. The programs are focused on relationship building with the goal of building trust so that we can intervene practically in crises, offer a way out, and give hope through the gospel of Jesus. They have many outreaches such as free salon services, medical clinics, skill training, outreach to the bar and street workers, and holiday parties or gift distributions. Their ministry is to those who are often lost in darkness and otherwise forgotten. It is our joy to know them and a privilege to be able to extend a helping hand and see lives changed through continuous relationship building. Most of these women are from rural areas and do not have education or job skills. They come to Bangkok seeking work and end up in the red-light district. Most of society ignores or turns away from those who are vulnerable therefore there is a need for authentic relationships.
As relationships develop and women decide they want to leave the industry, the outreach center team serves as a bridge to NightLight’s dignified employment opportunities.
Through a medical clinic outreach, our team will partner with this ministry to expand the team of medical doctors serving this community. Free medical clinics meet a tangible need in an area where many cannot easily access healthcare. These clinics provide a safe place for individuals to ask hard questions and share their experiences with a medical professional.
Prayerfully consider whether God is calling you to serve on this Human Trafficking mission to Thailand.
