Dominican Republic Medical Missions Trip

Throughout this week-long (Saturday-Saturday) trip, you will be partnering with local leaders and church planters to bring healing to their communities. Many people in the areas we serve do not have access to primary healthcare - so we bridge that gap and bring it to them. You will serve alongside Dominican medical professionals as part of a mobile medical clinic, complete with triage, provider assessments and education, a pharmacy, prayer, and engagement with the local leaders in their communities. You will bring skills, talents, support, and an educational perspective that will enhance the clinics and empower our local medical team. During a mobile clinic, we typically see 100-200 patients per day. We will be following all COVID safety requirements to ensure safe access to healthcare.

Ideal trip participants are both medical AND non-medical. For those trained medically (MD, DO, PA, NP, RN, EMT, healthcare student, etc), we will place you in roles where you can utilize your knowledge and gifts, such as in the assessment, treatment, and education of our mobile clinic patients. For non-medical trip participants, you will help with the all-encompassing care of the patients in the areas of prayer, patient flow, translating, and packaging of medicines.

• Where will you be serving? - This trip will go to various church planting communities in the greater Santiago area of the Dominican Republic. Due to the nature of national healthcare and the realities of environmental aspects in these communities, many of the patients we see will have not seen a doctor for a year or more, have underlying health issues that need to be addressed, a lack of access to safe and effective medicine, and a need for trusted comprehensive healthcare plans.
• Who will you be serving with? - You will serve alongside our Dominican medical staff and local leaders invested in the community. Medical outreach is done in partnership with locals so that we can provide the best comprehensive and culturally appropriate care possible. You will get to share expertise, work as peers, and encourage one another as medical missionaries.

• What does the trip cost? The cost of the week is $1400 plus flights. This fee covers all meals, transportation, experiences, and lodging. You will fly in and out of the Santiago (STI) airport. We work with a travel agent who can help you book your flight. To reserve your spot there is a $100 deposit, due by Nov 15, 2021.
• Where will I be staying? The GO Medical center in Santiago includes suite-style rooms on the second floor and dormitory-style rooms on the third floor. Your meals will be prepared by a team of cooks in the dorm facility. Learn more at gomin.org/medicalcenter.
